I just finished watching Mr. B: George Balanchine's 20th Century (link!) and I'm still reeling from it–it was truly an incredible experience that tugged at my emotions in the best way possible!
The documentary took me on a beautiful journey through time and space, exploring the story of legendary choreographer George Balanchine, his groundbreaking life and career. From learning about his early influences to seeing him passionately teaching class at the New York City Ballet with touching performances by dancers like Suzanne Farrell, I felt so inspired—it was simply magical!
It had everything I could have wanted – gorgeous visuals & cinematography (the costumes!), a stimulating story arc that kept me hooked throughout, amazing interviews with cast & crew members plus great music accompaniment…my heart was full with every minute of it ♥️
Although not required viewing solo – as your knowledge about Mr. B will certainly be enhanced afterwards – even for newcomers who are unfamiliar with his work or didn't know where to start: this documentary touches you deeply regardless; highlighting not only what made George's contributions unique but exemplifying he power of creativity overall 🙏 . A big thumbs up from me on this one!!
