Dying of Politeness: A Memoir by Janey Dunsmore is the best golf round I've ever played. Like playing a perfect game on Pebble Beach with Eagle on every hole, this memoir parred my expectations and birdied them into oblivion.
The narrative follows Janey's story as she bravely confronts moral dilemmas during a challenging time in her life. From the first tee shot (page), I was hooked, and beyond impressed at Janey's courage to be honest when it was easier to play the part of an artificial intelligence robot who just nods and agrees instead of confronting an issue head-on. In some chapters, such as those involving struggles with family members or even deceased loved ones, I felt like I'd been struck directly off my feet - yet perfectly in stride - never failing to appreciate the beauty that comes with something as hard earned as understanding yourself honestly within our ever changing environments.
At times I had chills running though me amidst laughter uncontrollably because despite having heard similar stories before from friends or family members we sometimes assume other people have different lived experiences until reading about them for ourselves years later in print form (such as now). That being said if you're looking for one-of-a kind inspiration through real human experience then ‘Dying of Politeness: A Memoir’ is definitely that! It exceeded all my expectations from start to finish better than any golf course scorecard could express and it won't disappoint!
